BACKGROUND
Over the past half century, actions by many in the Executive Branch, Congress, and an activist federal Judiciary have pursued policies and actions that have eroded
individual rights, threatened our republic form of government, negatively impacted our free market system, and undercut the national security and sovereignty of the U.S. The Guardian Award honors unusual,
con-spicuous, positive and courageous action opitomiz- ing, honoring, promoting and preserving individual and states™ rights, our free market system, national security , and our sovereignty. The
presentation of the Guardian Award is the Institute™s way of calling attention to America™s heroes and honoring those individuals that stand up for freedom, many times in the face of personal adversity.
The Guardian Award categories are:
1) Elected officials;
2) Private sector commerce;
3) Journalism
4) Literature;
5) Legal and judicial
6) Internet web sites

categories. All nomionations must be submitted by June 12, 2002. In order to be considered for nomination of an award, the criteria referred to above must be met. A narrative of why a nominee should
receive the award must accompany all nominations and be no longer than 200 words in length. Narratives must include specifics of events and accomplishments of nominee; background of nominee; and the identification and
